I am not sure there was a promise but an interpretation on how any costs in increasing matchday capacity should be met.

I am guessing but I assume we believe it should covered in or if increased be at the similar rate as we currently pay whereas the LLDC probably feel we should meet all costs, until no agreement is met the capacity stays at 57,000 and the courts will resolve whose is right.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
Its the Stadium Advisory Group that's limited it to 57k from 60k as is allowed already by contract.

Above 60k (upto 66k current capacity) will require a variation of contract for which there will be demands of a quid pro quo.

Sadiq can't sort much of Londons problems and goes missing but pops up when there's a blimp to be inflated.

Power to the weak people.

"Any additional crowd income will go to West Ham, not the stadium owners...and more fans, means more stewards I'd imagine, so increased losses!"

Except the seating or at least the seating areas already exist and it's just a question of planning permission. Perhaps more stewards will be needed if the numbers go up but defending a high court dispute where it was promised will only increase tax payers losses by as much a £1m...

I think I read that Newham Council were keeping it capped at 57k due to supposed persistent standing issues at games. You might be right about the facilities though.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
Isn't it Newham rather than LLDC that has limited the capacity?

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
I think we can only get 60K in the current arrangement. I read somewhere that moving up to 66k from 60k requires additional facilities (toilets, exits etc) to be provided. that was before we moved into it so that info may be outdated.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
The mayor has already come out and said that he thinks West Ham should pay more towards the upkeep of the stadium.

Fair enough, but we've got a watertight deal so were not going to pay more without a couple of sweeteners coming our way first are we?

I'd imagine we'd ask for full capacity and a greater share of the naming rights (along with the ability to go and get said naming rights deal, since LLDC are clearly incapable of this).

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
This a nettle that needs to be grasped by the mayor.

I suspect he sees it as a can he can (yeah, I know) kick far enough down the road so that it becomes a problem for the next mayor - who will do the same - it's only taxpayers money, after all.

Obviously mean LLDC

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
Any increase in attendance guarantees West Ham more income but only might for LDDC and whatever it is will be a fraction of what the club receives. One thing is certain for LDDC is their costs will rise so surely it is reasonable they look to West Ham to foot that bill if it is not covered in the original contract?

stepney hammer 10:15 Fri Jul 20
Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
It also means more beer, food and erm...popcorn being sold. This revenue goes straight into the LLDC pocket.

According to Claret & Hugh it goes to court in October due to an intransigent mayor of London more interested in Trump protests than honouring contracts....

Well if they are trying to reduce stadium loss, it makes sense to increase the capacity!
